Show moreQorTek Inc. (Linden, PA) is a leading developer of power electronic systems, world-class piezoceramic materials, and piezoelectric device technology solutions. The Company is actively engaged in various stages of technology development from concept feasibility to advanced engineering and manufacturing of products for the US DoD. QorTek is a small business with a lively culture focused on technology advancement, career development, and a flexible work-life balance. QorTek employees enjoy solving a variety of interesting technical challenges with teams that value mutual respect.
QorTek is seeking an Electrical Engineer Level 2 to take on challenges across our program portfolio with an emphasis on switch mode power electronics. This exclusive group of engineers is responsible for the design and development of state-of-the-art power supplies for some of the world’s most advanced underwater acoustic systems for the US Navy. We are designing the next generation supplies that enable enhanced performance to counter emerging threats.
This is a hybrid position that will require approximately 60% of your time working in Linden, Pennsylvania and 40% of your time working remotely.
The EE2 will design new switched-mode power supplies to meet challenging requirements that enhance system capabilities. Engineering tasks include analysis of alternatives (AoA) for circuit topology selection, detailed schematic design, component selection, analog circuit analysis using Plexim PLECs and/or LTspice, and PCB review in Altium. The engineer will work closely with our firmware group to optimize control loop tuning and with our Mechanical Engineering and PCB layout groups to design robust circuit cards to meet MIL-STD testing. This is a hands-on job using modern electronics equipment for bench testing of prototypes. With the aid of our in-house PCB assembly group, you’ll be able to bring new ideas to life very quickly. Projects range from 6 to 18 months in this fast-paced environment so you will get the opportunity to own your design from start to finish and see it transitioned into customers hands.
Role and Responsibilities:
Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Rising Juniors:
If you are thinking about gaining related engineering work experience, it is not too late to consider starting a co-op in the fall! There is still time to add/drop and there are multiple opportunities! Just a few companies that are hiring:
Zoll Cardiac Management (Pittsburgh, PA) (BIOE, ME, EE, multiple engineering majors)
Advanced Optronics (Pittsburgh, PA) (ME, BioE, EE, MSE)
Keystone Collections (Irwin, PA) COE
TranSystems (Philadelphia, PA) CE
Regeneron Pharmaceuticals (Tarrytown, NY) (BIOE, ChemE) R&D
Parker Hannifin (Irwin, PA) - IE
Emerson (Cranberry, PA) (ME, EE, COE)
Alstom (West Mifflin, PA) -(ME, IE, EE)
ANSYS (Canonsburg, PA) (COE, ME)
Hitachi (Pittsburgh, PA) (COE, EE)
Curtiss-Wright EMD (Cheswick, PA) (ME, EE, IE) Nuclear divisions are looking!
Connors Group (Pittsburgh, PA) IE (travel involved)
Philips Medical (Pittsburgh, PA) IE (Manufacturing) and Embedded Software (COE, EE)
Schaeffler Group (Wooster, OH) (ME, EE, ChemE, IE) auto industry/transmission - provide housing
Zimmer Biomet (Parsippany, NJ) (BioE, ME, IE)
Co-op allows you to graduate with a year's worth of work experience; progress in rotations if it's a good fit, or you can switch employers for your remaining rotations. A Fall start is not as competitive as summer, so you may have increased chances of landing a great opportunity if you can be open and flexible with a fall start!
If you have questions about co-op, please reach out to Chris Frankovic in the ELPE office at [email protected]. If you want your resume sent to any of these employers, forward a copy to Chris and let her know which ones you are interested in!
Don't miss out on these opportunities!
